About the Opportunity

Our client, an established regional bank with a growing presence throughout Colorado, is expanding its commercial banking division and is seeking an experienced Portfolio Manager to support a team of Commercial Relationship Managers serving middle-market clients across the Denver metropolitan area.

The organization continues to invest heavily in its commercial banking platform, emphasizing thoughtful credit decisions, relationship-focused service, and long-term client partnerships. Portfolio Managers are viewed as trusted advisors within the lending team and play an essential role in underwriting, portfolio management, and relationship strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Manage a portfolio of commercial lending relationships
Prepare commercial credit analyses and underwriting packages
Evaluate borrower financial statements and cash flow
Perform annual relationship reviews and risk assessments
Assist Relationship Managers with new business opportunities
Structure loan requests and prepare credit memorandums
Monitor covenant compliance and portfolio performance
Coordinate renewals, modifications, and loan documentation
Identify emerging portfolio risks and recommend mitigation strategies
Collaborate with Credit Officers and loan administration teams
Maintain accurate portfolio reporting and documentation
Support treasury management and cross-selling initiatives
Participate in client meetings alongside Relationship Managers
Ensure adherence to bank policies and regulatory requirements

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline
3+ years of commercial banking or commercial credit experience
Strong financial statement analysis skills
Experience underwriting commercial loan transactions
Knowledge of commercial lending policies and procedures
Excellent analytical and organizational abilities
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
High attention to detail
Experience with commercial banking software platforms
Collaborative approach to client service
Strong problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

Completion of a formal commercial credit training program
Experience supporting middle-market banking teams
Commercial real estate underwriting experience
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Treasury Management exposure
Progress toward CFA or Graduate School of Banking education
